about Sana Barada
Daily actions that create vast ripples
Change begins in the small patterns that shape our days.
As a clinical pharmacologist and addiction specialist, I’ve seen how the same mechanisms that keep us stuck can also support lasting change. My work has evolved from treating addiction to guiding people in reshaping the habits that influence how they eat, sleep, move, and think.
Through a blend of science, presence, and deep listening, I help you release what no longer supports you and build a more balanced, grounded way of living.

The Foundation of
My Approach
What is the added value?
My work is rooted in both science and lived experience.
As a clinical pharmacologist, I understand how substances and behaviors shape our patterns. My personal journey through bulimia and anorexia adds a deeper layer of insight, bringing not just knowledge, but understanding.
This combination shapes how I support others: with clarity, humanity, and a focus on lasting change.

Building Life Skills for Prevention, Resilience, and Responsible Decision-Making
In collaboration with a leading international school in Tuscany, we implemented an eight-session Life Skills & Mindfulness program grounded in WHO and UNICEF prevention frameworks.
Rather than relying on fear-based messaging around addiction, the program focused on strengthening essential competencies: stress management, emotional regulation, interpersonal communication, critical thinking, decision-making, and self-awareness.
Through interactive sessions and real-life applications, students explored how habits form, how peer and media influence shape behavior, and how to develop healthier responses to pressure and uncertainty.
The initiative fostered greater emotional literacy, personal accountability, and constructive communication among students.
This program reinforced a culture of well-being within the school community while equipping young people with practical tools for long-term resilience.

Senior Leadership Transformation (KSA)
Driving Strategic Change and Resilient Leadership in Saudi Arabia
“Our organization sought a high-level leadership program capable of supporting sustainable change in a rapidly evolving environment.
Sana delivered ‘Mastering Change’ — a strategic training designed for senior managers, integrating the science of habit formation, emotional intelligence, resilience, and ethical leadership within the framework of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
The program moved beyond theory. Leaders developed practical tools to strengthen decision-making under pressure, foster psychological safety, enhance cross-cultural collaboration, and align well-being with organizational performance.
The impact was clear: improved leadership coherence, stronger trust across teams, and a renewed culture of innovation and accountability.
This initiative helped position change not as a disruption, but as a strategic opportunity for long-term growth and impact.”

From Conversations to Inner Leadership
We hosted an 8-session Life Skills course in a local café in Florence, designed as an open community initiative. The goal was simple yet ambitious: create a space where people could learn practical tools for emotional regulation, decision-making, communication, and self-awareness — in a warm, informal environment.
Each session began with mindfulness practice, followed by shared conversation and structured exploration of one life skill at a time: stress management, emotional regulation, interpersonal relationships, critical thinking, communication & empathy, decision-making & problem solving, self-awareness, and creativity.
What made this program different was the atmosphere. It wasn’t a clinical setting. It wasn’t a lecture. It was a shared human space.
Participants reported that for the first time, they felt they were not “being corrected,” but rather being equipped. Instead of focusing on what was wrong, the work centered on developing skills — the know-how to move in a different direction.

Study Abroad University Program (Florence)
Rethinking Addiction Through Culture, Science, and Connection
“As part of our Study Abroad program in Florence, we partnered with Sana to deliver an experiential workshop on substance use prevention and food addiction.
What distinguished this initiative was its interdisciplinary approach. Through expert-based research, guided discussion, and hands-on demonstrations comparing fast and slow food culture, students explored the science of habit formation, the psychology of addiction, and the role of the environment in shaping behavior.
The session moved beyond theory. Students engaged in critical dialogue about willpower, moral judgment, and social responsibility, while experiencing firsthand how mindful consumption and cultural awareness influence well-being.
The impact was both intellectual and personal. Participants left with a deeper understanding of addiction as a human and relational phenomenon — and with practical tools for conscious decision-making.
This program embodied one core message: the opposite of addiction is connection.”
Workshops & Prevention
The Women’s International Network in Florence had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Sana Barada for an educational evening on addiction. She arrived thoroughly prepared, delivering a well-structured workshop supported by clear slides and practical handouts. Her ability to adapt complex concepts to our group’s level, while communicating in our native language, made the session both accessible and engaging.
Dr. Barada connected easily with participants, creating a comfortable space to explore a sensitive topic. She guided us through understanding addiction and introduced practical steps toward positive habit change with clarity and empathy.
Equally valuable was her openness to continued dialogue, making herself available for follow-up questions and further support. It was an informative and thoughtfully delivered session that left our members better equipped and more aware.

Bridging Prevention, Culture, and Clinical Excellence in the Gulf Region
“During our collaboration with leading institutions in the United Arab Emirates, Sana contributed her expertise in addiction prevention, youth development, and cross-cultural health education.
Through engagement with national sports initiatives and direct exchange with a governmental rehabilitation center, she facilitated strategic discussions on evidence-based addiction treatment, prevention through sport, and culturally responsive intervention models.
The collaboration led to the definition of future partnership objectives, including knowledge exchange, coordinated patient support pathways, and institutional visits across healthcare structures.
Sana’s fluency in Arabic and her understanding of both European and Middle Eastern healthcare systems enabled meaningful dialogue at both clinical and community levels.
This experience strengthened international cooperation and laid the groundwork for culturally informed prevention and treatment initiatives in the region.”

From Internal Friction to Aligned Growth
“As a growing small business, we were experiencing internal tension, unclear boundaries, and ongoing team misalignment. Decisions felt emotionally heavy, and leadership felt isolated.
Sana delivered a structured life skills and team development program tailored to our organization. Through guided sessions focused on communication, emotional regulation, accountability, and leadership clarity, we began to see what was truly happening beneath the surface.
The biggest shift was alignment. Roles became clearer. Expectations were redefined. Difficult decisions were approached with confidence rather than avoidance.
The result was transformative: a more cohesive team, stronger leadership, improved workplace harmony, and measurable business growth.
This was not just a training — it was a cultural reset.”
Digital and it’s Use in Your Life
From Hospitalization to Confidence and Self-Trust
“When our daughter started working with Sana, she was in a very fragile place. She had been hospitalized due to severe bulimia and was emotionally closed off — polite, but unreachable. At home, communication had become tense and conflictual, especially around body image and expectations.
What changed everything was trust. Slowly, she began opening up — sharing small details about her daily life, her thoughts, even her future plans. That shift was powerful.
Over the course of a year, she developed emotional regulation, self-awareness, and life skills that transformed not only her relationship with food, but her relationship with herself.
Today she is stronger, more expressive, more determined. She speaks up. She makes choices. She is no longer defined by her struggle — but by her resilience.”
Food & Eating Patterns
From Performance Pressure to Self-Awareness
“I started vaping at first just to try it, and then it became part of my routine. I was always pushing myself — school, sports, expectations. I felt like I had to be strong, capable, and always in control.
Working with Sana wasn’t about being told to stop. It was about understanding why I needed it in the first place. I realized how much pressure I was putting on myself, and how much of my life was about proving something.
We worked on communication, confidence, and understanding my real needs — not just the version of me I thought I had to be.
I became more open, more socially confident, and more honest with myself. I no longer need to perform to feel valued.”
Smoking & Vaping
Turning Suspicion into Prevention and Trust
“When I suspected that alcohol might have been involved during a group sleepover, I felt lost. I didn’t want to overreact — but I couldn’t ignore it either. Some parents preferred to dismiss the possibility altogether.
Working with Sana helped me approach the situation calmly and strategically. Instead of blaming or exposing anyone, we focused on communication, awareness, and preserving trust — especially with my daughter, who had confided in me.
Slowly, the other parents became more open. We created a shared agreement, began communicating regularly, and formed a supportive parent group.
Since then, there have been no further incidents. More importantly, our daughters feel guided — not controlled — and we, as parents, feel united rather than divided.”
